Good riddance…now just stay away

Dear Sarah Palin,

I’m not sure why it took you 5 years and 4 colleges to scrape up your journalism degree.  I’m not sure why your soap opera family life has garnered you praise and admiration.  I’m not sure why your attractiveness and speech delivering capabilities receives more attention than your ignorance of world events and lack of intellect.

And I’m not sure why you are resigning as governor before completing a single term.  But I really hope this has nothing to do with wanting to run for president in 2012.  Because let’s be honest, you have neither the experience nor the thoughtfulness to lead a country.  And the values that you will undoubtedly build your campaign around no longer represent the Republican Party, but a sliver of the party that cannot in this day and age win in a populist contest.  So please, for the love of all that is good, salvage what’s left of your dignity and disappear.

Note:  I am not interested in politics and dislike partisanship more than anything.  I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat…I may have opinions on issues, but these opinions are often nothing but ideas or gut feelings.  And being what I consider a strong, ambitious, professional woman, my immediate reaction to the mess that is Sarah Palin is a mixture of shame and anger.  This is a person whose influence derives from characteristics that I do not believe make a good leader (being good-looking, having a controversial personal life, holding opinions that tend to be divisive rather than unifying, etc.)  And she is not a representative of the modern woman.
